Speak with your body not your word says the owner of Bodii Language, Tiana Scott, the Bay area native and local business owner who started her own Dance company thru the 2020 pandemic.
Scott is a passionate dancer an entertainer that began dancing at the age of 11. Born in the late 80s from
Richmond, California along her twin sister and two older siblings. Scott affectionately known as twin #1 for
being born first recalls knowing early on she wanted to own her own dance fitness studio. Competing in talent shows, Choreographing pieces for the school rally’s.
Scott began training at Laney college of dance in 2018. Prior to being impacted by the pandemics school
closure, Scott excels at styles such as ballet, west African, modern dance, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop.
Scott contributes a huge part of her growth to her dance teachers from Laney college who she described as all black able-bodied group of passionate educators with over 60 years plus experience. After the school closure she felt inspired to continue what she started and utilize that knowledge to empower others.
Drawing inspiration by the creativity and ability to continue to dance without limits regardless of ones outside perception and seeking an outlet for herself Bodii Language became a reality. Scott participated in and choreographed a piece for the Black Joy Parade for bay area local indie music artist Calina G, Bo Jack, and recently signed Too Short artist Reg Black. Scott’s dance company marched in the 2020 Black Joy parade in Oakland CA.
A member and affiliate of 5013c, Black Men’s Speak/Women of Color Speak, Scoot offers weekly classes for
dance, fitness, Zumba, and personal training. Scott currently holds certifications for Zumba fitness, Athletics And Fitness Association of America (AFAA).
